Brian and Joanna Engagement Shoot: Richmond, VA
Brian and Joanna both grew up in Virginia (in fact I went to Jamestown High School with Joanna in Williamsburg) and have lived in Richmond for over five years. Though I live in Richmond, theirs was the first wedding or engagement shoot that I had done in the city so I had a lot of ideas that I wanted to try. They’re pretty adventurous so they were more than happy to indulge me taking them all over the city.
We started at the Valentine Museum where they would later have their wedding, then we went to the old hydroelectric plant on the James River downtown to take advantage of the colorful murals that now decorate the walls. Finally we finished at the floodwall with a beautiful view of the river and the city skyline that made for a wonderful backdrop.
The weather was gorgeous and we all had a great time.
I’ll have their wedding album up soon!
Carlos and Catherine’s Engagement Session: Williamsburg, VA
Catherine and Carlos are the first couple I’ve had the opportunity to do an engagement shoot with. They live in New York but chose to have their wedding in Williamsburg, VA where Catherine attended the college of William and Mary and where her parents now live.
While they were in town several weeks before the ceremony making some final preparation we had a great time taking pictures in Merchants Square and around the college campus.
I’ll have some photos from their big day up soon!
Travis and Sara’s Wedding: October 15, 2011 Washington D.C.
Travis and Sara had a sleek, modern wedding in the fall. Located in the heart of northwest D.C. at Fathom Creative Gallery, this venue offered a unique urban backdrop. We started the afternoon with some outdoor portraits in Logan Circle near their first apartment, then on to Peregrine Espresso (where they first met) and while walking along 14th street. For the ceremony and reception the 2nd floor of the gallery had an excellent mix of indoor and outdoor space with several flattering spots for portraits. Travis and Sara were surrounded by a host of family and friends, all of which weren’t shy about joining the bride on the dance floor most of the night. All in all, there was no shortage of pictures showing the excitement of the day.
Jesse and Ann’s Wedding: June 4, 2011 Emmaus, PA
These are some highlights from my first wedding as the primary photographer a couple of years back.
Jesse is an old friend of mine that I’ve known since middle school in Camp Hill, PA. He and his wife Ann are the best couple you can imagine and made my first experience as a wedding photographer a great one.
They had a wonderful reception on Ann’s family farm in Emmaus Pennsylvania with an intimate group of family and friends. Jesse and Ann are both artists and have a wonderful do it yourself attitude as well as great taste. They even prepared all of the food for the reception themselves, with 8 kinds of Quiche!
Though the sky was a bit threatening for part of the day and we had a few light sprinkles this made for some pretty dramatic portraits of the couple.
